Crown Point Midwives
Mona Abdel-Fattah
Mona is a practicing midwife in Hamilton. She graduated from the Midwifery Education Program (MEP) in 2013. She is currently working on completing her Masters degree in Global Health at McMaster University. She is midwife with the Crown Point Midwifery initiative, a neonatal resuscitation instructor, and soon will be certified CPR and first aid instructor for the Red Cross. She is passionate about women’s health and especially meeting the needs of refugees and newcomers to Hamilton. When not working she enjoys visiting new places, and spending time with her 2 children.
Elisabeth Boulanger
Elisabeth is a registered midwife, offering services in French and English to clients in Hamilton since she graduated from the McMaster Midwifery Education Program in 2009. She also has a B.Sc in Kinesiology from the Univerisity of Ottawa. As part of her work in the community and passion for her maternal-language, Elisabeth has established a great relationship with the Centre de Sante Communautaire de Hamilton to provide midwifery services in French to clients of the centre, and those newly arrived who do not have primary providers. Elisabeth is excited to be part of the Crown Point Midwifery initiative as she believes midwives have much more to offer to woman's health than only prenatal care and that healthcare should be easily accessed.
Kate Demers
Kate is the lead midwife with the Crown Point Midwifery team. She has been practicing in Hamilton since graduating from the McMaster Midwifery Education program in 2009. She is an assistant professor at McMaster University. She also holds a BSc in Biology from McMaster University and MMid from the University of Sheffield. She is especially excited about the inter-professional collaboration offered with the Crown Point Family Health Centre team. When not working she enjoys the camping and canoeing but spends most of her time at a rink with her 2 children who are avid hockey players.
Christine Sandor
Christine is a registered midwife and has been working in Hamilton since she graduated form the McMaster Midwifery Education Program (MEP) in 2010. Prior to her midwifery training, Christine completed a BSc in Biology at McMaster University. She completed her Masters of Health Science Education in 2017 where her research focused on the transition to clinical practice for newly graduated midwives. Christine is also a sessional instructor and a clinical preceptor with the McMaster MEP. Christine has enjoyed being a part of the midwifery team offering expanded midwifery services through the Crown Point Family Health Centre. Outside of work Christine is busy with her two children – ages 3 and 5 – and squeezes in knitting and sewing projects whenever she can.
